IBPS plays its part in the selection process only till the provisional allotment to different banks. After that, the responsibility to intimate the qualified candidates about their joining dates and procedure lies with the respective banks.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern

As in the previous years, the IBPS exam (CWE 7) for hiring candidates will be based on an online written exam in two parts: Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS Mains Exam. This examination is followed by a face-to-face interview process.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO preliminary examination has a total duration of 1 hour and is conducted in online mode. It consists of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and maximum score of 100 marks. There is negative marking in IBPS PO pre exam and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates must clear the cut-off in all 3 sections to qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam. The section-wise details are given below:
S.No. Name of Tests(Objective No. of Questions Maximum Marks Duration
1 English Language 30 30 Composite time of 1 Hour

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

The IBPO PO Main exam is also conducted online, it has 5 sections with a total score of 200 marks and total duration of 140 minutes. From this year onward, there has been a modification in the IBPS main exam pattern. While IBPS exam will have the same 5 sections, there is a specific time limit for attempting each of the five sections. The sections must be attempted in the same order and the allotted time as mandated at the time of the exam. The candidate can’t skip to the next section before the time allotted to the current section has elapsed. There is negative marking as well with each wrong answer leading to deduction of 0.25 marks. The section-wise details are given below:
S.No. Name of Tests(Objective No. of Questions Maximum Marks Duration
1 Reasoning 50 50 40 minutes

IBPS PO Interview

The candidates who have qualified the mains exam are called for a face to face interview which carries a maximum of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview is 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
The interview round is generally 15-20 minutes long, where a panel of bank officials ask questions to the candidates about themselves, banking sector, current affairs, general awareness, etc. The candidates must be well dressed, confident and carry all required documents to the interview.
The final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in mains examination and interview. The final scoreis calculated by IBPS with weightage of marks given to the main examination and interviewin the ratio of 80:20 respectively.
Penalty for Wrong Answers:
There is a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams. A wrong answer to an objective question by the candidate will lead to a penalty of one fourth of the marks assigned to that question. For example, 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty for wrong answer to a question that carries 1 mark. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate.
Final Score Calculation for IBPS PO Exam:
The final score for the IBPS PO exam is calculated keeping the following points in mind:
• Marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam (Tier-1) will not be considered in the final score and are only for qualifying to Mains Exam (Tier-2).
• Candidates must qualify Phase-2 and Interview separately to be eligible for final merit.
• The weightage (ratio) of CWE Main exam and interview for final merit list will be 80:20 respectively.
• The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category.Candidates with top merit rank in each category are finally selected.

 Tips to solve Floor puzzle

Directions (Questions 1 to 5): Study the following information carefully to answer the given questions
Seven people P, Q, R, S, T, U and V live on separate floors of a 7-floor building. Ground floor is numbered 1, first floor is numbered. 2 and so on until the topmost floor are numbered 7. Each one of these is travelling to a different city, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Lucknow but not necessarily in the same order. Only three people live above the floor on which P lives. Only one person lives between P and the one travelling to Bangalore. U lives immediately below the one travelling to Mumbai. The one travelling to Mumbai lives on an even-numbered floor. Only three people live between the ones travelling to Bangalore and Patna. T lives immediately above R. T is not travelling to Patna. Only two people live between Q and the one travelling to Kolkata. The one travelling to Kolkata lives below the floor on which Q lives. The one travelling to Delhi does not live immediately above or immediately below Q. S does not live immediately above or immediately below P. V does not travel to Chennai.

1).Which of the following is true with respect to V as per the given information'?
a)    The one who lives immediately below V is travelling to Mumbai

d)    V lives on the lowermost floor
e)    V is travelling to Bangalore
2).Who among the following lives on floor no. 3?
a)    The one travelling to Chennai
b)    The one travelling to Kolkata

5).How many people live between the floors on which S and the one travelling to Mumbai live?
a)    None
b)    Two

d)    More than three
e)    Three

GIVEN:
Ø  A 7 – storey building, where the Ground Floor = 1st Floor
Ø  7 Persons – P, Q, R, S, T, U and V
Ø  7 Cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Chennai, Bangalore, Lucknow and Kolkata

SOLUTION:
These types of questions can be best solved by the tabulation method
Ø  If persons / days are mentioned in the question then the first column of the table will always be persons/days
Ø  Here there are 7 persons, then the 1st column will be persons
Ø  Always start filling the Table from the bottom if there are more than one possibilities

CLUE 1: Only three people live above the floor on which P lives
Ø  Therefore P lives on the 4th floor (7 – 3 = 4)

CLUE 2: Only one person lives between P and the one travelling to Bangalore
Ø  Going by the clue, the person travelling to Bangalore is on alternate floor from P. The person can be in the floor either above or below P
Ø  That gives us 2 options
·         Above P – 6th Floor
             OR
·         Below P – 2nd Floor

Ø  From the clue 2, it is clear that the person travelling to Bangalore is either in floor 2 or 6
Ø  So if person travelling to Bangalore is in floor 2 then the person travelling to Patna will be in floor 6 and vice versa (because only three people live between the ones travelling to Bangalore and Patna)
Ø  Therefore, the person travelling to Mumbai cannot be in floor 2 or 6
Ø  By Clue 4, U will be in floor 3
Ø  Hence, 4th floor = P = Mumbai

CLUE 7: Only two people live between Q and the one travelling to Kolkata. The one travelling to Kolkata lives below the floor on which Q lives
Ø  This shows that the person travelling to Kolkata and Q are 2 floors apart, with the person travelling to Kolkata below Q
Ø  Now the person travelling to Kolkata cannot be in floor 1, because then Q would be in floor 4 which is not possible as 4th floor = P
Ø  If the person travelling to Kolkata is in floor 3, then Q will be in floor 6
Ø  The Kolkata person cannot be in floors 5 or 7 as there will be no floor for Q above them
Ø  Since Q is confirmed to be in floor 6, T and R combination cannot be available in the floors 5, 6 and 7
Ø  Therefore, 3rd Floor = U = Kolkata
                  6th Floor = Q = Bangalore or Patna
                  1st Floor = R
